Music Unites Pepsi PS 153 Chorus Performs for NYC Department of Education Teachers

On Friday, January 30th, the students of Music Unites Pepsi PS 153 Chorus received the opportunity to perform at a highly prestigious professional development workshop for New York City Department of Education music teachers. Under the direction of Ms. Arielle Hyatt, the students sang a a gospel spiritual from the project “Take Me to the River” with a professional band. Students were then coached in a masterclass setting by faculty from Berklee College of Music faculty, Renese King, on style influence, phrasing, and 12-bar blues progressions acting as accompaniment. PS 153’s student’s shined as radiant soloists teaching other music educators the lead vocal lines and harmonies.
