Who’s Influence Still Felt

Tonight at Carnegie Hall, more than 20 acts of different styles and eras will pay a more expansive tribute to the breadth of the band’s musical accomplishments.

The Who formed in 1964, long before some of these musicians were born, but that hasn’t stopped the British band from influencing every generation since then. “[With a line such as] ‘I hope I die before I get old,’ they were speaking to young people,” says 30-year-old guitar whiz Kaki King, who’ll play “Pinball Wizard.”
